The Things I've Learned!

I just wanted to share with everyone the things that I've learned since doing the Cookbook Project!!

How to spell Potatoes. When it's singular there is no E at the end.

How to spell Tomatoes. Same rule applies!

How to spell Worcestershire. (Actually I still don't know how to spell this word and after doing this cookbook I'm going to try my darndest never to use this in a recipe so I don't have to EVER write it down!)

The more recipes you look at the less you want to cook! (Not kidding)

No matter how long it's been since I've seen or talked to people in the Richards Family they can still make me feel loved and important!!

I loved putting this cookbook together for the family! I've said it before and I'll probably keep saying it.....Everyone was soooo great and supportive that I talked to! I am proud to be a Richards and tell my kids the memories that I have of the family reunions. It's the kind of memories that I hope and try to give my kids.

Anyone who knows me knows that I have a LOVE for Iowa. (I'll admit maybe a little too much!). But to me Iowa holds so many happy memories of my childhood and my adult life! When I go to Iowa I'm seeing my family and building more memories with the most important people in my life. No matter how long it's been it feels like no time has passed and we pick up right were we left off. The older I get the more important family is!

Seven Hundred and Twenty Seven

The final count of the recipes in the cookbook is 727!! I have double-checked, proofed, alphabetized and catergozied!!!

I'm ready to place the order on October 1st after I get a final count of all the cookbooks to order.

I again just wanted to thank everyone for being supportive of this project. This cookbook has some great recipes from the past and present generations.
I hope that in another 10 or so years we do another one and that we keep more in contact with each other!

Get Your Cookbook Orders In!!!

Hello Richards Family!

I am so happy with how many recipes were submitted and how many people contributed! I don't have the final count yet, I'm still entering in some last minute entries--but the count is over 700!

I'm going to be placing the order on September 30th. If you haven't already-- please let me know by that date how many cookbooks you want to order. I'll also need the money by that time as well. The price of the cookbook is $14.00

Jean Swinton

I just learned today that Jean Swinton has passed away. My thoughts and prayers go out to her family.

When I first took on this project her email was one of the first ones that I got. I emailed her not knowing if I would get a response since I have never talked to her before. She emailed me back almost immediately, I really formed a friendship with her by corresponding back and forth through email. She sent me DVD's of the family reunions and also some letters that she saved from the 1983 reunion. She was so personable and helpful. She will be greatly missed.

September 15th

I've just extended the date to get the recipes submitted to September 15th. I just got some more addresses and I wanted to give everyone the opportunity to submit recipes that wanted to. Also the price of the cookbooks will be $14.00 which includes shipping. I'm sending out a letter to everyone with the details on how to order the cookbooks and info on the blog. We are up to 519 recipes as of today!
